About diagnosis, treatment and recovery
What is the difference between partial (nephron-sparing) and radical nephrectomy, and how is kidney function preserved?
Partial nephrectomy removes only the tumor and surrounding tissue, preserving healthy kidney tissue; radical nephrectomy removes the whole kidney. The nephron-sparing approach is prioritized whenever suitable.
What is the difference between robotic surgery and open surgery?
Da Vinci robotic surgery works through small incisions with three-dimensional vision and millimetric precision, generally allowing less bleeding and faster recovery.
What is a small renal mass and when is active surveillance appropriate?
Some small renal masses grow slowly. In selected cases, especially elderly patients or those with comorbidities, active surveillance with regular imaging may suit better than immediate surgery; the board decides.
Which patients are suitable for ablation (RFA/cryo/microwave)?
Ablation (RFA/cryo/microwave) is a minimally invasive option for small tumors in patients unfit for surgery, destroying the tumor with a needle under imaging guidance.
How is the choice made between targeted therapy and immunotherapy in advanced disease?
In advanced/metastatic disease, the choice between TKIs and immunotherapy is planned by the board based on the patient's molecular profile and overall condition.
Which imaging (CT/MRI/PET-CT) is needed for staging?
Contrast-enhanced CT, multiparametric MRI and, when needed, PET-CT are used for staging and characterization; in selected cases biopsy completes the diagnosis.
Does every patient need immediate surgery in kidney cancer?
No. Some small renal masses grow slowly, and active surveillance suits selected cases. The treatment decision weighs tumor size, stage and kidney function together at the board.
How is follow-up performed after surgery, and what is done if recurrence occurs?
After surgery, regular follow-up is done with kidney function tests and imaging. If recurrence is found, the option is re-evaluated by the board, with support continuing via tele-oncology.
When is SBRT (TrueBeam) used in kidney cancer?
In inoperable or oligometastatic disease, high-accuracy stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) can be delivered as a treatment option with the TrueBeam LINAC.
How does the process work for patients coming from abroad?
You share your imaging and pathology results; after board review and a price-guaranteed offer, we arrange visa, transfer, accommodation and interpreter support.
