About diagnosis, treatment and recovery
What is the difference between neurology and neurosurgery — which should I consult?
Neurology handles diagnosis and medical treatment, neurosurgery handles conditions requiring surgery; since both work in one board at our center, a single application is enough and we handle the routing.
What is the difference between medical treatment and rehabilitation?
Medical treatment targets the disease itself with drugs and interventions; rehabilitation trains walking, balance and daily-life function. Neither replaces the other; at our center they are planned in coordination.
What are the options in MS treatment?
Corticosteroids during relapses; disease-modifying therapies (DMT) in the long term. The choice is individual, based on disease activity and MRI findings.
Who is a candidate for deep brain stimulation (DBS)?
Parkinson's patients with fluctuations and tremor despite medication who are cognitively suitable, and selected tremor cases; the decision is made by the neurology-neurosurgery board.
Does DBS cure Parkinson's?
DBS does not eliminate the disease; it markedly reduces tremor, rigidity and on-off fluctuations, improving quality of life. Medication doses can usually be reduced.
How does epilepsy treatment work?
Seizure type is clarified with EEG/video-EEG and MRI; medication is individualized and optimized with regular follow-up.
For a suspected brain tumor, does this department or oncology take over?
Brain tumors are handled in our neuro-oncology program; neurosurgery, oncology and radiology decide together in one board. We manage your application from a single point.
When is surgery needed for lumbar or cervical disc herniation?
Most herniations improve with medication and physiotherapy; with progressive weakness, foot drop or refractory pain, microsurgical options are evaluated by the board.
What documents are needed for a second opinion?
Existing MRI/CT images, your medication list and any discharge summary are enough; after remote assessment the plan and quote are delivered.
How does the process work for international patients?
Remote assessment, visa invitation, transfer, accommodation and interpreter are coordinated end to end, with tele-medicine follow-up after return.
