About diagnosis, treatment and recovery
What does rehabilitation aim for in Parkinson’s?
It aims to preserve mobility and balance, reduce freezing and fall risk, and maintain independence in daily life.
Does rehabilitation replace drug treatment?
No; it does not replace medical treatment, it works alongside and complements it. Medication management and DBS evaluation in advanced disease run in the Parkinson's program of our Neurology & Neurosurgery center.
What can be done for freezing while walking?
Freezing episodes can be managed with auditory/visual cueing strategies and robotic gait training.
How does robotic gait therapy help balance?
Through controlled, repetitive gait training it supports step symmetry and posture, improving balance.
Does exercise affect the course of the disease?
Regular, task-oriented exercise helps preserve mobility and independence; it is planned alongside neurology follow-up.
What are cueing strategies and how are they used?
Auditory or visual cues guide rhythm and stepping, supporting the initiation and continuation of movement.
How often should the program be done?
Frequency is individual; it is planned with the evaluation according to disease stage and goals.
Are home continuation programs and remote follow-up possible?
Yes; a home program and remote follow-up can be offered as part of the program.
