About diagnosis, treatment and recovery
Is fat transfer permanent, and how long does the result last?
The fat cells that take are permanent and remain for years. After the procedure a portion of the graft is naturally absorbed by the body, while the surviving cells become a lasting part of your face.
How much of the transferred fat survives (graft survival)?
Partial absorption of the graft is an expected, normal process, so planning accounts for it. The take rate varies by individual, area and technique; exact figures require personalized information.
How long do swelling and bruising last after the procedure?
Mild swelling and bruising are normal and usually subside noticeably within a few days. The final, settled result appears once swelling has fully resolved.
Will a touch-up session be needed?
Some patients may benefit from a small touch-up session to fully achieve the desired volume. This is a normal step to personalize and optimize the result.
Where is the fat taken from, and will the donor site scar?
Fat is usually taken from areas with suitable reserves such as the abdomen, flanks or inner thighs. Because fine cannulas are used, no noticeable scarring is expected at the donor site.
What is the difference between fat transfer and dermal filler (hyaluronic acid)?
Fillers are temporary and absorb over time; fat transfer uses your own permanent tissue and can also improve skin quality. The right method depends on your expectations and facial structure.
Is the procedure painful, and what anesthesia is used?
The procedure is usually performed comfortably under local anesthesia or sedation; general anesthesia may be preferred for more extensive combinations. The plan is clearly explained to you in advance.
When can I return to work and social life?
Most patients return to daily life quickly; visible swelling and bruising decrease noticeably within a few days. Full recovery time varies by individual and the volume applied.
Does fat transfer also improve skin quality?
Yes. Nano-fat in particular, thanks to its rich cellular content, can help improve fine lines, dark circles and skin texture.
Can it be combined with other aesthetic procedures?
Yes; it is often combined with facelift, eyelid surgery or skin-resurfacing procedures to achieve a holistic, balanced result.
