About diagnosis, treatment and recovery
How long does eyelid surgery take, and will I be discharged the same day?
The procedure takes about 1-2 hours on average; most patients are discharged the same day and return for a check the next day.
Is the procedure painful, and is it performed under local or general anesthesia?
It is usually done under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, with pain kept under control.
Will the scars be visible, and do they fade over time?
Incisions are hidden in the natural crease, below the lashes or inside the lid; scars fade over time.
How long is recovery, and when can I return to work and social life?
Bruising and swelling usually ease noticeably within 1-2 weeks, after which returning to social life is possible.
Upper or lower — how is it decided which lid needs surgery?
Assessing the upper lid, lower lid, brow and skin together at examination determines which lid needs surgery.
Who is the transconjunctival (internal incision) approach suitable for?
The internal-incision approach, leaving no external scar, is preferred especially for younger patients with minimal excess skin.
Can a brow lift or facelift be performed together with eyelid surgery?
In suitable cases, procedures like a brow lift can be planned together with blepharoplasty for a holistic result.
Are results permanent, and will another surgery be needed in the future?
Results are long-lasting; although natural aging continues, most patients do not need another surgery.
Do dry eye, glaucoma or contact-lens use affect the procedure?
Conditions such as dry eye and glaucoma are assessed at examination, and suitability and the plan follow accordingly.
How does the process work for international patients, and how many days should I stay?
For international patients an end-to-end process with visa, transfer, accommodation and interpreter support is offered; stay length follows your plan.
