Frequently asked questions
Why is a second resection performed after bladder tumor surgery?
The second resection is performed to detect tumor foci that may have been missed in the first procedure and to more reliably determine whether the tumor has reached the bladder muscle. This information is recommended for certain pathology results as it directly affects the treatment plan. It is not necessary in every patient.
I saw blood in my urine, is it an emergency?
Painless blood in the urine is a finding that should be taken into consideration and should be evaluated. It does not make a diagnosis on its own. It may have different causes such as infection, stones or bladder diseases. During the evaluation, urinalysis, imaging and cystoscopy are planned when necessary. It would be best to apply without waiting.
Does varicocele always lead to infertility?
No. Fertility is not affected in a significant portion of people with varicocele. However, some people may experience deterioration in sperm count and motility. Therefore, if there is difficulty in conceiving, sperm analysis is added to the examination and the decision is made by evaluating these findings together.
If a kidney needs to be removed, is it possible to live with only one kidney?
It is possible to live with one kidney if the functions of the other kidney are sufficient. The remaining kidney assumes the majority of the burden. Therefore, the function of both kidneys is evaluated separately before surgery. Afterwards, blood pressure monitoring, adequate fluid intake and regular blood-urine checks are recommended.
