Frequently asked questions
How long does recovery take after nose surgery?
Return to daily life usually occurs within a few weeks. However, it takes longer for the nose to take its final shape. Swelling and bruising are expected findings in the first weeks and will decrease over time. Since it may take months for the edema to completely resolve, outcome evaluation is not made early.
I can't breathe through my nose, is this an aesthetic problem?
Not most of the time. Inability to breathe through the nose is usually due to structural reasons such as the curvature of the intranasal chamber, enlargement of the nasal concha or adenoids. Evaluation of these conditions is made by examination and endoscopic examination. Treatment is directed at the airway, not the appearance.
Do all sinusitis require surgery?
No. Most sinusitis attacks regress with supportive methods such as medication and nasal washing. Surgery is considered, together with imaging findings, in cases where complaints persist for a long time, recur frequently, or do not respond to drug treatment.
Does adenoid surgery affect the child's immunity?
Adenoids are part of the immune system, but there are other tissues in the body that undertake this task. Therefore, a permanent weakening of immunity is not expected when taken. The decision is made by evaluating the impact of the tissue on the child's breathing, sleep and hearing.
