Hydrotherapy & Aquatic Rehabilitation in Turkey

Water carries your body weight, resists every movement and relaxes the muscles with its warmth. Personal aquatic rehabilitation with a physiotherapist in the pools at Doruk Nilüfer.

HIGHLIGHTS

What stands out in this treatment

Thermomineral and Hydrotherapy Pools

Treatment and exercise are planned in the same centre, in two pools with adjusted temperature.

In-Pool Walking and Balance

Water slows a fall, so walking and balance work happen without fear of falling.

In-Water Strengthening

Water's resistance in every direction strengthens muscles without straining the joints.

Pool Access by Lift

Patients who cannot walk or who use a wheelchair are lowered into and lifted out of the pool safely.

Physiotherapist-Guided

Every session is supervised in standing-depth water; no swimming needed.

Together with Thermal Therapy

Balneotherapy is added to the same programme when needed; for chronic pain and stiffness the two methods work together.

Insurance & agreements

Transparent payment with contracted institutions and private insurers, at home and abroad.

Accommodation & rooms

Companion-friendly modern patient rooms and in-city accommodation support.

International patient services

Visa, airport transfer and 24/7 multilingual medical interpreters.

Transparent, guaranteed price

A quote prepared from your medical information; no extra charge for the treatments it covers.
WHAT IT ADDS

What water adds

Buoyancy → less load on the joints
Water carries most of the body weight. Movement that pain or weakness prevents on land starts early and with less pain in water.
Water resistance → strengthening in every direction
Water resists more as movement gets faster. Muscles work against a load that matches their strength without straining the joints.
Warmth → muscle relaxation
The warmth of thermal water reduces muscle tension and stiffness. Stretching and movement become easier as a result.
Hydrostatic pressure → circulation and balance
Water’s even pressure helps reduce swelling and supports circulation. Surrounding the trunk, it also makes balance safer.
OVERVIEW

Who it's for

Who is it for?
Those who want to maintain movement and strength after surgery
Those who cannot exercise on land because of fibromyalgia or chronic pain
Those with stiffness and joint pain from rheumatic disease
Those with balance and walking problems after paralysis or neurological disease
Those with lower back and pelvic pain in pregnancy
Those who want to protect their joints because of excess weight
TREATMENTS

Techniques and where they are used

Techniques
The programme is built around the goal set at the first assessment; the techniques below are often combined in the same session.

In-pool walking and balance

Because water carries part of the weight, walking can be trained before it is possible on land. The physiotherapist corrects the step pattern and posture; as the depth decreases the load grows and walking is prepared for land. Balance work is repeated without the risk of falling.

In-water strengthening

Water's resistance grows as movement speeds up, so a weak muscle works against a load that matches its strength. Aquatic weights and floats increase the load gradually. After surgery, long inactivity or joint disease, muscles strengthen without straining the joints.

Water jet

The underwater jet directs a pressurised stream at a targeted muscle group, relaxing it and supporting circulation. It is used before or between exercises; the physiotherapist sets pressure and duration.

Watsu

In watsu the physiotherapist supports the patient in warm water and guides slow, rhythmic stretches and movements. The aim is to reduce muscle tension and gently increase range of motion; it is used as preparation for active exercise.

Thermal therapy

Thermal therapy uses the warmth and minerals of water; for chronic pain and stiffness, balneotherapy baths combine with the hydrotherapy programme. The thermal therapy page explains which is chosen and when.

Where it is used
Each condition's page explains the role of water in detail; for a few conditions the full story is on this page.

Paralysis: aquatic therapy for stroke & paralysis

After a stroke or spinal cord injury, the pool lets standing and stepping on a weak leg start before land. Its own page explains the pool programme for paralysis.

Orthopedic, post-surgical and sports injuries

After joint replacement, fracture or ligament surgery, water protects movement and muscle while weight bearing is limited; for athletes, pool running prepares the return to land. The orthopedic rehabilitation page explains the programme by phase.

Fibromyalgia and chronic pain

With widespread pain, land exercise often makes the pain worse. In warm water the muscles relax, and low-impact movement and in-water walking are done without increasing pain; endurance rises gradually. The programme is completed with relaxation and breathing work, followed by rheumatology and PMR together.

Rheumatic diseases

Stiff, painful joints move more easily in water. In-water joint mobilisation preserves range of motion and water resistance strengthens muscles without straining the joints; in ankylosing spondylitis, spinal flexibility and posture are trained. The programme follows a joint plan from rheumatology and PMR.

Aquatic exercise in pregnancy

Water carries the growing weight of pregnancy, so exercises that ease the lower back and pelvis are more comfortable in water. Gentle in-water walking maintains endurance and posture is trained to adapt to the changing balance of the body. The programme is planned with the obstetrician's approval and a physiotherapist.

Obesity and joint protection

With excess weight, walking on land loads the knees and hips. In water, walking and low-impact aerobics build fitness without straining the joints, and the muscles around the knee and hip strengthen against water's resistance. The programme runs together with a dietitian's advice.
